Yemen Institutions and Cultural Initiatives with Freedom of Expression
Within the events of Freedom Forum implemented by Damanat Foundation for Rights and Freedoms, in collaboration with the Cultural Resource within the project of Initiatives and Local and Regional Projects in the field of cultural policies, Damanat Foundation has implemented the event of Yemen Institutions and Cultural Initiatives with Freedom of Expression.
The first event has hosted two Yemeni experiences in this topic, namely, the experience of Damanat Foundation for Rights and Freedoms, which was presented by Mr. Nabil Ahmed Alkhadher the Chairman of the Foundation and experience of the Imagination Friends for Puppet Stage and Shadow Play which was presented by Mr. Saeed Hassan Saeed, the Manager of the Cultural Theatre Initiative.
In his paper Freedom of Expression as a Way for Development, Nabil Alkhadher discussed topics of creative industry in Yemen, the Arab world and the world. Then he presented an overview on freedom of expression in the Arab world and in Yemen in particular ended with the conclusion that freedom of expression plays an important role in development and is one of its basic components.
In his paper entitled '' Shadow and its Friends'', Saeed Hassan tackled the role of freedom of expression to open shadow fields for creators. Then he talked about the emergence of creative products in the fields of arts, culture and scientific inventions and other things. In addition, he introduced the experience of his imitative with international and governmental organizations especially his dealing with the creative texts which are now governed by many limitations in Yemen.
