This event hosted Rafeeq Al-Akori –Director General of Yemen Musical Heritage to represent music and the singer Yahya Mahdi to represent singing who presented papers in their specialization and their relationship with freedom of expression.
In his paper entitled '' Freedom of Expression through Music'', Rafeeq Al-Akori focused on the importance of music and its relation to life with all of its types. He also presented information about the forms of music in Yemen, how music is related to freedom of expression, the concerns of music in Yemen and its relationship with some of the lost rights as well such as intellectual property rights. He presented, too, recommendations on lifting the limits of freedom of expression especially for the creative artists.
Similarly, the singer Yahya Mahdi focused on the types of singing in Yemen whether the traditional or the popular singing. He also talked about his personal experience in singing and the experience of Droob Foundation for Artisic Production with an introduction on the different types of singing in Yemen whether Sanani Singing or Hadrami Singing and other types of singing which is popular in Yemen. He presented, too, recommendations about the issue of singers and the concerns of this important segment in the field of creativity, arts and culture
