Within the framework of partnerships to celebrate International Women's Day, Namaa and Ata Foundation, the Future Media Forum for Development and Investment, and the Foundation for Guarantees of Rights and Freedoms held a special meeting to share and present experiences as well as working papers on the situation of women in Yemen. Among the presentations were experiences of youth initiatives and presentations by non-governmental organizations.
The participation of the Foundation for Rights and Freedoms represented in a working paper entitled "Appreciating the value of women is the shortest way for full participation". The paper talked about minimization of the value of women and their participation in economic, social, civil and political issues, human rights activism and women's movement. It referred to the fact that many women considered that human rights mission is a bridge to reach public office and stay in the same place for many years as well as the coexistence of women with femininity and the obstacles of women's participation in public life in Yemen. In addition, the paper dealt with the work of women within the feminist movement and the undermining this feminism movement by self-occupying in public service without exerting further efforts for self-development.
