Damanat Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms conducted the orientation meeting of the intellectual property rights, and the importance of incorporating a constitutional article on the intellectual property rights into the Final Document of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) of the Yemeni constitution. 20 young (male and female) independent artists, creators and human rights activists attended from Sana'a, Aden and Taiz on 28 October 2013.
The meeting, which was held in cooperation with the Ebhar Foundation for Childhood and Creativity and supported by Responsive Governance Project (RGP) a USAID-funded project that aims to incorporate constitutional provision on intellectual property rights
Mr. Ahmed Ba’alasi, the executive manger of the Foundation had added that this project aims at conducting 3 meetings that involve different segments of independent journalists, activists, representatives of civil society, writers and inventers to introduce the importance of integrating a constitutional article on intellectual property rights as per the recommendations of the rights and freedoms team in the NDC.
The participants submitted signatures lists demanding the inclusion of an article on intellectual property rights in the final document of the NDC and the Yemeni Constitution.
